Down Syndrome Awareness by T21 Families Support Group
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, this is a time we inspire more to learn more about down syndrome and to celebrate people born with Down syndrome and the medical advancements that increasingly improve their quality of life.
The Trisomy-21 (T21) Families support organisation had a successful cardiac clinic launch on October 24, 2020, with support from Ford Foundation at the Ability Therapy. The UAP Old Mutual towers were lit up in blue and yellow during the nights of 23rd & 24th October 2020.
Some of the activities of the day were:
- An ECHO cardiogram was done to 12 children & 1 adult by Cardiologist Dr Gachara
- Wellness clinic for the attendees by Dr Esther Kimani, Dr Emily Chesire & Dr Cleophas Mutua
- Team building & bonding session for the attending mums led by comedian Njugush
Down syndrome occurs across the human spectrum and is the most common chromosomal condition. These activities made a huge impact in celebrating October the down syndrome awareness month.
