NCDAK STRUCTURE

NCDAK provides an oversight, technical and strategic direction through activities conducted by NCDAK member organizations targeted at individual, community, county, national, regional, and global levels, as appropriate.

NCDAK has 3 levels of governance: The General Meeting, Board of Directors, and committees of the Board.

The Board is the planning and policy-making body of the organization which controls and approves all activities performed by the Executive Committee. It is mandated to ensure that the organization is guided by its vision, mission, core values, guiding principles, and objectives in its operations.

The Board ensures that the organization operates within its mandate, preserves its values, and operates as a responsible and respected corporate citizen. It is comprised of our member organizations.

The Secretariat is responsible for administrative and executive services for the NCDAK, and implementation of NCDAK’s projects, programs, policies, and activities.

Dr Karekezi is a pharmacist by profession with PhD specialisation in Medicinal Chemistry, holds key positions as a Member of the Research Committee Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance East Africa, a founder Director of Kenya Diabetes Management and Information Centre. She contributes to NCD prevention, access to treatment and care, health system strengthening, research, advocacy, and policy development in the region. Catherine has previous experience in academia and research at: Rhodes University (South Arica), University of Nairobi, United States International University Africa, and Kenya Medical Research Institute. She gained experience in drug regulation as a Member Analytical Expert Committee of the Medicines Control Council, South Africa; Member Veterinary Committee for Drug Registration, Pharmacy and Poisons Board, Ministry of Health, Kenya; and Pharmaceutical Analyst, National Quality Control Laboratory, Kenya.

Program Manager

Gideon Ayodo has over 15 years of experience in international humanitarian aid work, with a love for project planning, leadership, and a strong focus on health, human rights, economic empowerment, climate change, and governance. He has a Master of Arts in Counselling from the University of Nairobi, an Advanced Diploma in Teaching, Training, and Assessing Learning from City & Guild UK, and a double major in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi. He has participated in several programme management training programs, including the World Bank's Tackling the Rising Burden of NCDs, the Global NCD Alliance's Advocacy for NCDs and UHC, and the SIDA Partnership Forum in Sweden's Monitoring and Evaluation. One of Gideon's key achievements was coordinating a project that led to the enactment of the Unclaimed Asset Act in Kenya, which was transformed into the Unclaimed Asset Authority. Gideon is a dedicated and experienced professional, committed to making a positive impact in his field.

Finance Officer

Nancy Wesonga brings over 15 years of expertise in financial administration for programmes and projects, having worked with local and international funding agencies, as well as numerous implementing partners throughout Kenya, East, and West Africa. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Statistics, as well as a certificate in Program Management. She ensures that all levels of partnering standards and norms are in place and are followed, allowing organisations to efficiently reach their financial goals. In her personal statement, Nancy expresses her passion for program financial management and the opportunity it provides to reach underserved communities. She has extensive experience in financial systems strengthening and capacity building for implementing partners and is confident that her expertise will help NCDAK achieve stronger financial systems that will steer the organization to higher levels of funding, with a ripple effect on NCDs management in the country.

Administrator

Catherine Munaji is an accomplished professional with over 15 years of expertise in office administration, communication, and relationship development. Catherine oversees the office operations of NCD Alliance Kenya, bringing her management and communication knowledge, as well as certification from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and digital marketing. Her varied job experience with humanitarian organisations and pharmaceutical corporations has strengthened her cross-sector interaction abilities, allowing her to pursue her interest in health-related issues. Catherine became interested in vulnerable children and people while working with MSF project clinics on Gender-Based Violence, HIV/AIDS, and Tuberculosis. A personal interaction with Kenya's shortcomings in the health system inspired her to push for health system strengthening for the benefit of all Kenyans. Catherine has made substantial contributions to a number of projects in Nairobi's informal sector. Catherine is an NCD prevention and control advocate who approaches her work with dedication and skill. "Life is not how you live it, but what you do with it!" is her daily mantra, and it represents her confidence and commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.

Harrison Andeko is a committed health advocate and a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Medical Biochemistry Graduate. In addition to his academic accomplishments, he has received extensive training in Monitoring and Evaluation, Good Laboratory Practices, and NCD Alliance Global Advocacy Institute Trainings, which have honed his field expertise. Harrison worked as a member relations coordinator at the Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations before joining NCD Alliance as a Program Officer. During his tenure, he provided programmatic support for a variety of projects, including Cancer Education Materials Programs for patients and carers in Kenya, and was an integral part of fundraising efforts, both through events and by coordinating fundraising through the Global Giving Platform. Harrison has gained significant experience as a result-oriented program officer, having spent over five years designing, implementing, and monitoring high-impact health strengthening and advocacy programs and projects at the national and county level. He is a strong believer and champion of meaningful involvement of people in decision making and equity, making him an asset to any team working towards positive change in the healthcare sector.

Her areas of expertise include training and capacity development, improving the quality of life in underprivileged communities, monitoring and evaluation, and social responsibility programming. Anne is passionate about social responsibility projects, particularly those that focus on policy and economic empowerment for long-term sustainability. She has a profound grasp of the issues that marginalized communities face, and she has worked relentlessly to empower and improve their capacity to achieve their goals. Her devotion and experience have made her a vital asset to any team striving to effect good change in the field of advocacy and development.
