The NCD Alliance Kenya is pleased to announce a new Board Chair and three new Board members.
Dr. Zipporah Ali – Board Chairperson
Dr. Ali brings a wealth of advocacy and palliative care experience spanning over 20 years as the founder and immediate former Executive Director of the Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association (KeHPCA), and extensive contacts with hospices and palliative care providers in Kenya and the African Region. She advocated for the full integration of palliative care into Kenya’s health care system. Dr. Ali sits on the National Cancer Control Program and the National Cancer Institute Kenya and provides direction on ensuring that palliative care is part of comprehensive cancer care in Kenya.
Patrick Ngechu – Treasurer
Patrick holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree (Finance & Banking) and Certificates in International Public Sector Accounting Standards and Certified Public Accountant Kenya and part III of Certified Investment Financial Analyst. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Association for The Welfare of People with Epilepsy (KAWE). Patrick believes in finding new sources of income for NGOs through adaptation to supplement existing sustainable funding.
Grace Ochodo – Board Member
Grace is a career educationist and administrator with a proven track record in the administration function of corporate and NGO sectors. Grace is a stroke survivor and lives with diabetes. She is the chair of Stroke and Hypertension Association (SAHA) a patient-led organization. She strives to collaborate with like-minded stakeholders to undertake programs for the prevention and management of stroke.
Eric Angula – Board Member
Eric is a result-oriented person with over a decade of experience building strategic partnerships and building thriving businesses across Africa. He has experience developing successful market access initiatives by making gains in market shares, generating internal support, and building executive relationships for organizations. With key expertise in Strategic Partnerships, Global Health Innovation, Business Development, he provides impactful tools to support growth and for scale plans. He was part of a team that innovatively impacted diabetic and hypertensive patients and trained health workers, community health volunteers, and peer educators on the management of NCDs.
As we welcome the new Chair and Members, we acknowledge the dedicated and selfless service of Dr. Eva Njenga (Chair) Dr. Mary Amunyunzu-Nyamongo (Secretary), Prof Gerald Yonga (past Chair and Member), and Thomas Lindi (Treasurer) as members of NCDAK’s inaugural Board who have retired.
Continuing members of the Board are David Makumi (vice-Chair), Dr. Lilian Mbau (Secretary) Dr. Peter Mokaya (Member), and Beatrice Gachambi (Member).
